During a visit of the Kazatomprom JSC delegation to Norway, led by advisor of the chairman of the board Azat Betekbaev, meetings with the leadership of the Norwegian transnational Scatec AS and Elkem AS corporations were held.
During the meetings the sides discussed issues of preparation and implementation of major investment projects in Kazakhstan, said the foreign ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Norwegian businessmen expressed interest in cooperating of Kazatomprom JSC with Elkem AS and Scatec Solar, which was proposed by the Kazakh side,” said the statement.
Kazakh representatives made a presentation of the Kazatomprom JSC activity in the context of the prospects of cooperation with the Norwegian side, informed on the approaches of the Kazakh leadership to ensure the transfer of knowledge and new technologies to the country, as well as the Kazakh government’s incentives for foreign investors.
In turn, director of Elkem Solar Ragnar Tronstad and the manager of research and development Gro Eide showed a presentation of Elkem AS corporation’s unique production of ferrosilicon and special materials on its basis.
Elkem AS corporation is the largest producer of metal silicon, aluminum, carbon products, as well as casting ferroalloys and other technological materials.
Given the global leadership of Scatec AS in the field of renewable energy sources, the possibility of realization of the investment project on the construction of a powerful solar power plant in Kazakhstan and the production of solar cells were also discussed.
Scatec AS corporation is engaged in the development of nanotechnologies, alloys of rare-earth metals, thorium reactors. Scatec Solar uses solar batteries both of its own production and of other companies in its investment projects in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa.
